OBJECTIVES
The International Certification will prepare Addiction Counseling Specialists, provide the academic excellence and clinical expertise of addiction counselors to serve individuals suffering from addiction, and their families, setting an international high standard for clinical counseling practice.

CLINICAL PRACTICE
Clinical practice is a very important component in each student’s learning experience. Supervised clinical experience is offered to apply what was learned in class on clinical treatment and recovery. Clinical practices include: case management, primary care, ongoing care, long-term care, adolescent and family services, brief intervention, and prevention services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTITUDES
At the end of the course, participants will demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitudes of professional practice in the field of counseling. They will be equipped with tools to master:

  • The Fundamentals and Transdisciplinary Principles in Addiction
  • Understanding Addiction and Treatment Knowledge for the Patient and His or Her Family
  • Professional Addiction Counseling Practice Demonstrated in the Eight Practical Dimensions:
